Welcome to the website of my Bach World Tour!
In August 2007 I will be embarking on a worldwide concert tour devoted to the music of Bach. It will celebrate the wonderful voyage I began in 1994 when I undertook to record all of Bach’s major keyboard works for Hyperion Records—a project that took eleven years to complete. The 14-month tour, which will run until the end of October 2008, will cover some 25 countries on six continents.
The major part of the tour will be devoted to performances of the complete Well-Tempered Clavier in two recitals. Already forty cities around the world have committed themselves to the complete cycle, and many others are taking one of the concerts. The performances will often be accompanied by a masterclass or a pre-concert talk. To hear the 48 Preludes and Fugues played by memory is an unforgettable experience, and one which is as uncommon as it is moving.
To coincide with the tour, Hyperion Records will be releasing a DVD entitled Bach Performance on the Piano in which I will share with music lovers around the world the knowledge and experience I have gained in all the years of studying Bach’s music. There you will also find the Souvenir Programme--a very special publication which is in fact a retrospect of my life and career so far.
